Melanie Taylor
Centre Director

MSc. Integrative Therapeutic Counselling, (MBACP)., BA Hons., P.G. Dip. Ed.; P.G.C.E.

Melanie founded the Elysia Therapeutic Centre in February 2012 with a team of health-care professionals who were inspired to extend the anthroposophic therapeutic vision of Park Attwood Clinic. After years working as a counsellor and therapist, it was her vision to create a professional yet friendly health and wellbeing centre for the whole community to access by carefully selecting therapists and other professionals to work together in one place. Melanie originally studied art and education before becoming a counsellor, group facilitator and trainer. She also founded two strands of activity that support the inner healing journey of individuals through working together in groups. The first, Building Bridges Retreats in 1998, and in 2000 the Oasis Project. The Oasis Method is also now available to health care professionals to learn through the Bridges-to-Oasis Group Facilitation Training.

Sue Rogers
Sue Rogers
Psychotherapist/Counsellor & Mindfulness Practitioner

I am a qualified psychotherapist /counsellor working with adults, young people and children. Along with my private practice I work in a variety of settings such as primary and secondary schools. I have seventeen years’ experience in the education sector.

I work integratively, which means I use different approaches from the major therapeutic models to suit your needs. Counselling is a good way of discovering what issues might be affecting you and I provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to explore these.

I can help with difficulties such as depression, all types of anxiety and stress including OCD, phobias and PTSD, anger, family issues, low self-esteem, self-defeating behaviours such as self-harm, sexuality and relationships. This includes any other issues that arise which affect a lot of people in the course of their lives.

My work with children and young people is age appropriate taking into consideration their stage in life and developmental processes which are involved. I have an extensive knowledge base regarding the nature of childhood and adolescent development and my counselling approach specifically parallels their developmental stage. Younger children are encouraged to express themselves in a non-verbal way using a range of art, stories and creative methods.

I have a teaching qualification in Mindfulness and provide one-to-one sessions and group work in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) as recommended by the NHS (NICE Guidelines), where I predominantly work to reduce stress and promote psychological wellbeing. My continuing professional development is at Bangor and Oxford Universities.

I am a member of both the BACP (British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapists) and the NCS (National Counselling Society).

Jonathan Kelly
Jonathan Kelly

Diploma in Integrative Counselling. MBACP Senior Accredited

I have worked as a qualified counsellor since 2004 with individual clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of difficulties. I view counselling as a helpful and effective means of engaging with the emotional challenges we meet as life progresses. I am also quite wedded to the idea that most clouds have silver linings, and this has frequently been borne out in practice. Emotional skills, personal insights and new perspectives on one’s life are the kind of benefits that come with the process of addressing a particular problem or issue.

Much of my work involves developing self-awareness and emotional management skills in areas such as anxiety, depression, anger and emotional insecurity. My hope is that clients will not only be able to return to normal functioning, but improve their sense of wellbeing, and perhaps see new possibilities and positive perspectives.

For many years I have worked in the area of grief and loss, with clients who are coming to terms with traumatic events which may involve a life crisis. From my work with bereaved people I have developed a particular interest in working with the potential for personal development and growth which is accessible at times of crisis, and which can become a key time in an individual's life – in some ways a rite of passage.

I also worked for some years with clients with special needs such as autistic tendencies, communication problems, cognitive impairment, and emotional/behavioural challenges.

Marion Green
Marion Green
Therapeutic Art

Health Care Professions Council Registered Art Psychotherapist Certified Trauma Therapist

I am an Art Therapist and Certified Trauma Therapist. I have a background in Social Work especially all aspects of adoption and in biodynamic gardening.

My art therapy experience has been with a broad cultural diversity of people in psychiatric, secure and forensic environments, with people who are living with terminal or life long, life-threatening conditions; with traumatised and marginalised people whose lives have been overshadowed by abuse, multiple trauma and/or life crisis.

I facilitate courses on Working with Trauma, Professional Resilience and Burnout and on Working with Grief and I am a professional supervisor.

Art therapy is an active therapy; it offers the opportunity to literally work through things that trouble us using clay, colours, black and white and multimedia. Sometimes we don’t know what is wrong we just know we don’t feel at home in the world or within our skin. Art therapy makes visible what often cannot be expressed in words. It can also be helpful if we find we talk a lot but go round in circles. The activity quietens and clarifies and is a bridge between what is conscious and unconscious and gives us a mirror for self-reflection.

You may be suffering from loss of direction, loss of the sense of self through life events, loss of faculties through illness, loss of connection to others or you may feel you need to be replenished. You don’t have to be good at art to engage in art therapy. The only thing you need is to be willing to experiment and together we can do the rest.

My job is to help you to find the healer within you and to help you to integrate whatever has happened or is happening so that you can continue your life believing that no matter what: your life matters.

I offer time limited therapy reviewed on agreed time scales, one to one sessions, small group sessions, psycho-education and themed workshops.

An introductory session is offered so that we can discuss your needs and see if we would like to work together. For this session I ask for a small contribution to cover the hire of the room. I will be working at the centre on Wednesday afternoons and evenings. Please contact me if you have any questions.
